Refund and Cancellation Policy

At Citewise, we strive to ensure our customers are completely satisfied with our AI-powered academic tools. However, due to the nature of digital goods and the immediate API costs incurred during AI generation, we have implemented the following refund and cancellation policies.

1. One-Time Purchases (Single Paper Pass)

When you purchase a Single Paper pass, the payment goes directly toward the computational costs of analyzing your paper and generating the visual assets.

  • Non-Refundable: Once the generation process has started and the content (Thread, Carousel, or Visual Abstract) is delivered to your account, the purchase is strictly non-refundable.
  • Technical Failures: If a system bug or technical error prevents your content from being generated successfully, your credit will not be deducted. If your credit is mistakenly consumed due to an error, please contact us within 7 days, and we will manually restore your credit or issue a full refund.

2. Subscriptions (Researcher PRO & Annual PRO)

Our Pro plans grant you a specific quota of generation credits (e.g., 20 per month or 240 per year) and access to premium templates.

  • Cancellations: You can cancel your subscription at any time via the "Manage Billing" section in your account dashboard. Cancellation will turn off auto-renewal, and you will retain access to your Pro features and remaining credits until the end of your current billing cycle.
  • No Prorated Refunds: We do not offer prorated refunds for partially used billing periods. For example, if you cancel an Annual PRO plan halfway through the year, you will not receive a refund for the remaining 6 months, but you will keep your access until the year ends.
  • Accidental Renewal: If your subscription auto-renews and you meant to cancel it, we will issue a full refund ONLY IF you contact us within 7 days of the renewal charge AND you have not used any generation credits in the new billing cycle.

3. Fair Use & Account Abuse

  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts, without refund, that are found to be abusing our platform, violating our Terms of Service, or sharing personal accounts across large teams in a way that exploits our fair use limits.

4. How to Request a Refund or Cancel

  • To cancel a subscription, please use the Stripe Customer Portal linked in your account settings.
  • To request a refund for technical failures or accidental renewals, please email us at support@citewise.app with your account email and receipt number. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 business hours.
